The Molson Barrie Community Fund can help.

What is it?

The Molson Barrie Community Fund contributes to a wide range of projects and programs that enhance and/or make a difference to the City of Barrie. The Fund's aim is to work with individuals and organizations that wish to provide an improved community environment for everyone to live and grow.

A Board of Review has been established to set policy and guidelines, coordinate the Fund, review and approve donations. Board members are asked to sit for two years.

Who can apply?

Anyone serious about making a difference can apply. You must live, own a business or work in the City of Barrie and have what it takes to pull a group of people together to coordinate and complete a project.

What kind of projects will be funded?

The Molson Barrie Community Fund remains flexible to the changing needs of the City of Barrie.

For 2009, the Molson Barrie Community Fund committee will accept all for applications that will have a significant impact in the City of Barrie for many years to come. These requests must fit the program criteria as set out in the application form.

Local projects that will be considered for funding must be accessible to everyone in the community.

How does it work?

Proposals for projects must be submitted in writing by February 15, 2009. The Board will review all proposals and then contact successful projects.

Program Criteria:

applicant must live, have a business or work in the City of Barrie

  • applicant must identify a need for this project or activity in Barrie
  • project must be accessible to everyone in the community
  • no more than one submission for each project will be approved
  • receipts for the materials purchased with MBCF funding or an official receipt from a registered, charitable organization must be submitted to the Molson Barrie Community Fund
  • due to the regulatory environment in which Molson Canada operates, funding is not available for projects directly benefiting only those under the legal drinking age
  • the Molson Barrie Community Fund is only responsible for financial support of projects

The MBCF does not usually support the following:

Funding for uniforms, research, labour, individuals, consultants, churches/religious organizations, political organizations, groups that direct aid outside of the city of Barrie, third party organizations, conferences, competitions and travel to/from such events, telethons, auctions, request for prizes or fund-raising raffles, second or subsequent campaigns of organizations that have already received funding for the same campaign, direct mail campaigns.
